5 Days to Closing
Taking care of last-minute details in the week before closing
The last week before closing can be hectic and it is easy to have some crucial tasks fall through the cracks. Use our checklist to make sure that none of the details get overlooked in those exciting days before closing.
5 Days Before Closing
- Confirm closing date, time, and location with your agent and title company
- Review the closing disclosure and verify all numbers are correct
- Arrange for certified funds or wire transfer for any remaining costs
- Confirm all contingencies have been satisfied
- Notify your moving company of the confirmed closing date
3 Days Before Closing
- Begin packing non-essential items
- Confirm utilities will be transferred on closing day
- Notify your homeowner's insurance company of the closing date
- Gather all documents needed for closing (ID, insurance info, etc.)
- Confirm with your lender that all loan conditions are cleared
Day Before Closing
- Complete the final walk-through of the property
- Verify all agreed-upon repairs have been completed
- Confirm all personal property to be left is in place
- Ensure the home is in the same condition as when you agreed to sell
- Collect all keys, garage door openers, mailbox keys, and access codes
Closing Day
- Bring valid government-issued photo ID
- Bring certified funds or confirm wire transfer has been sent
- Review and sign all closing documents carefully
- Receive your proceeds check or confirm wire transfer details
- Hand over all keys, codes, and documents to the buyer
- Celebrate — you've sold your home!
